Nutrition

A proper balanced diet is vital for a healthy mind and body. It is fuel that provides us with the energy we need and the minerals, protein, and essential fats for healthy growth. What we eat affects the way we feel in the short and long term, and with the right physical activities can reduce the risk of chronic diseases and promote overall wellbeing. Part of a Well Iceland tour is to help you on the road to a nutritious and balanced diet, a plan that you can take to use when you return home.

What are nutrients?

What are nutrients?

There is no one food that provides all the nutrients you need for a balanced diet and you must source it from different food groups to satisfy your body’s daily needs. Nutrients are elements of food that help you grow, repair body tissue and build new muscle tissue.

Part of a Well Iceland tour is workshops which help you understand the food that creates a balanced diet, the things you should eat and the ones you avoid. You will work with an expert nutritionist to work out this plan. You will work towards eating a variety of foods from each group in recommended servings and look to choose foods that are low in fat, sugar, and salt. You will also learn to read and understand food labels.

Why is physical activity important?

Why is physical activity important?

You can’t get everything you need from your diet, and to stay fit you must combine it with regular exercise to promote overall health. Physical activity can help you lose excess weight and keep it off, prevent high cholesterol, build strength and endurance and cope with stress and anxiety.
